About the Microforms / Current Periodicals Unit

The Microforms Unit contains the library's collections of microfilm and microfiche as well as specil sets such as the CIS collection of government microfiche. These materials do not circulate but may be read in-house, printed or downloaded to disk using the equipment located in that area. Staff at the service desk can assist patrons in retrieving materials, using the microform readers, or printing during regular reference hours.

Current print issues of periodicals and magazines are shelved alphabetically by journal title. Current issues of daily and weekly newspapers are shelved in the last row. Journals and newspapers do not circulate but may be photocopied using nearby copiers. (http://lib.utsa.edu/Services/General/copy.html)

Materials in the Microforms/Current Periodicals Unit are catalogued in the Library Catalog, UCAT or indexed in print or online indexes. Reference librarians and other staff are available at the Reference Desk if assistance is needed.

The Microforms/Current Periodicals area is located on the 2nd floor of the John Peace Library at the 1604 campus, on the same side of the building as the Reference stacks.

Hours of Operation

The Microforms and Current Periodicals area is accessible all hours that the library is open. Staff is available to assist at the Microforms Service Desk and the Reference Desk during regular reference hours. See Library Hours for information regarding regular operating hours, semester breaks and holidays.
