Assistant Dean for Administration

Job Description

The University of Texas at San Antonio Library is seeking a dynamic, energetic, knowledgeable librarian to provide leadership, organization, and management skills as Assistant Dean for Administration. This position provides broad administrative responsibilities in areas of personnel administration, library business operations, and general administration. Works closely with the Dean of the Library, Assistant Dean for Collections and Assistant Dean for Public Services in formulating, administering, planning, and evaluating Library-wide policies and programs. Oversees the preparation and maintenance of the Library Handbook of Operation, serves as the Library's personnel officer, develops and manages a staff development program, and manages the Dean's Office support staff.

Required Qualifications

ALA accredited MLS/MLIS; ten years of progressively responsible library administrative experience including a minimum of five years of supervisory experience; budget preparation and planning experience; expertise in relevant software applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

Preferred Qualifications

Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited institution; similar experience in an academic institution, including leadership experience with both librarians and staff.

Salary: $75,000/annualized depending on qualifications.
