Vidal, Mirta. Chicanas Speak Out: Women: New Voice of La Raza. NY: Pathfinder Press, 1971. José Angel Gutiérrez Papers, MS 24, 1959-1991, Archives and Special Collections, University of Texas at San Antonio Library.

The Mexican American Archives project was established in 1991 by the Hispanic Research Center (now a part of the UTSA Culture and Policy Institute) in collaboration with the Archives and Special Collections Department, UTSA Library. The project began with the realization that there were scant materials available on the political activities of the Mexican American community in San Antonio since World War II. The concern was that the public in general, and many scholars, in particular, were unaware of the role of the Mexican American community in politics before 1975. The Mexican American Archives Project specializes in acquiring, preserving, arranging, describing, and providing access to primary source materials that document the social, political, cultural and historical activities of Mexican Americans in San Antonio and South Texas since World War II.
