UCAT issues with Firefox 2.0/Internet Explorer 7/Opera 8

We have upgraded the SSL certificate on UCAT, our library catalog to version 3.0. This should resolve most issues that users were experiencing when connecting to UCAT.

If you are still having trouble connecting to UCAT, please email or call us at (210) 458 6133 so we can help troubleshoot.

Below you will find instructions on how to enable SSL 3.0 in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera.

To enable SSL 3.0 in Internet Explorer 5.5 and above (including IE7)

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Click on the Advanced tab and scroll to the bottom of the screen.
  3. Place a checkmark in the box next to:
    • Use SSL 3.0
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Click OK.

To enable SSL 3.0 in Firefox 2.0

  1. In a new tab type about:config in the address bar and press enter
  2. In the filter field enter security.enable_ssl3
  3. Double click the entry so the value is true
  4. Also in the filter check that security.ssl3 is set to true (all entries)
  5. You may have to disable SSL 2.0 configurations.
    • In the filter field enter security.enable_ssl2
    • Double click the entry so the value is false
    • Also in the filter check that security.ssl2 is set to false (all entries)
  6. Close the tab or about:config editor

To enable SSL 3.0 in Firefox 1.x

  1. From Tools select Options
  2. Select the Advanced icon
  3. For each of the options under Security ensure 'Use SSL 3.0' are ticked
  4. Click OK

To enable SSL 3.0 in Opera 8.x and above

  1. From Tools select Preferences
  2. Select the Advanced tab
  3. From the left hand side menu select Security, and click on 'Security Protocols'
  4. Ensure 'Enable SSL 3' are ticked
  5. Click OK
  6. Click OK again
