Library Research

UTSA has many tools and materials to assist you with research for Spanish 5373.

Off campus access is available to UCAT and to most databases. You will be prompted for a username (your last name) and a password (your banner id number) to use the databases at home.

Relevant Journals

A list of relevant journals titles has been created for your convenience.

Finding Books

UCAT, the Library Catalog
is used to find what items the UTSA Library owns or subscribes to and tells you where they are located in the library.

Use the UCAT Tip Sheet to learn how to search the catalog.

Finding Journals

Databases & Article Searching
will connect you to databases and indexes that are used for locating journal articles, newspaper articles, and other research materials. Use these to search for articles on your topic.

See the relevant UTSA Subject Guides below for a listing of appropriate database to use.

See the Tip Sheets for help using a specific database.

See the listing of relevant journal titles for examples of journal titles the UTSA owns.

If you find a citation to an article in a database, but it is not available full text in that database, use the sources below to find out if UTSA owns a copy of the journal.

UCAT can be searched by journal title, in order to check if the UTSA Library carries a print subscription of a journal. It will provide the dates that are owned and indicate where they are located in the library.

E-Journal Locator will indicate if the UTSA Library has an electronic subscription to a journal. It will list the database(s) that includes full-text of the journal and the dates of coverage that are available.

If the item you are looking for is not available at UTSA, see Finding Materials at Other Libraries for alternate methods of obtaining the item.

Finding Materials at Other Libraries

Students can acquire items not owned by UTSA in several ways. TexShare Cards and Trinity Cards can be used to check materials out at other libraries. Interlibrary loan is a service to provide to members of the UTSA community those items that are needed to support their research and are not owned by UTSA Library or are currently unavailable in the Library.

The sources below can help you to search for materials at other libraries.
