LibQual News Release

Thank you for your participation in the LibQUAL Survey! Prize winners will be notified using the email address entered in the survey between November 20th and December 1st, 2006.

As we plan for the future of UTSA Library, it is important that we understand our users' perceptions and expectations so that we can provide the services you need. Beginning on October 23rd and running through November 17th, UTSA Library will be undertaking a comprehensive survey of library service quality. The survey, known as LibQUAL+, assesses satisfaction with services, facilities, and collections at participating academic libraries throughout the world. Survey results are used to set priorities, establish strategic planning initiatives, identify best practices for libraries, and address service inadequacies.

All faculty, students and staff will be invited to submit their views of UTSA Library through a web based survey. You may also pick up a paper survey at any of the three UTSA Library locations (1604, Downtown, or ITC). The LibQUAL+ survey instrument consists of 43 questions and takes approximately 8 to 13 minutes to complete.

There will be no compensation per se for completing the survey, however, 50 incentive prizes will be offered as thanks to participants. At the end of the web-based survey, respondents may elect to include an email address, which will enter them in a drawing for an iPOD and other prizes. Prize winners will be notified using the email address entered in the survey between November 20th and December 1st. Prizes include an iPOD, $50-$100 gift certificates, bowling and popcorn parties at University Bowl, four tickets to the Botanical Garden, popular novels from Barnes & Noble, and free food coupons from McDonalds and Chipotle.

Survey results will be available to the UTSA community in Spring 2007. Details will be posted on the Library's LibQUAL+ website and linked to the Library homepage. In the meantime, additional information about the survey is already mounted on UTSA Library's LibQUAL+ site at: http://lib.utsa.edu/News/Events/Libqual/.
