A multi-volume German-language reference set on language, grammar, language usage, quotations, antonyms, synonyms, and spelling.

Deutsch Plus
Location: JPL Multimedia Center, Video Cassette PF3112.5 .D48 1999
This 20-episode television drama (presented on 5 videocassettes) tells the story of Nicolai Antonescu. Nico, a refugee from Romania, goes to live and work in Cologne without speaking any German and gets a job at a television station working on a daytime magazine program. The drama allows you to learn step-by-step along with Nico as he tries to pick up the German he needs for work and for his private life.

Fokus Deutsch
Location: JPL Multimedia Center, Video Cassette PF3066 .F64 1998
A German language telecourse that weaves together dramas set in Germany, documentaries of contemporary German life, interviews with native speakers, and historical and archival footage to teach the German language. Thirty-six episodes are presented on 12 videocassettes.

A full-text literature reference database rich in biographical, bibliographical, and critical content. The Literature Resource Center allows you to search by author, title, literary theme, and literary movement or time period, among other methods. Provides abstracts and/or full text to nearly 6,000 titles relating primarily to news, business, and legal information. Includes U. S. and foreign newspapers, wire services, government and political news, company profiles and financial reports, industry and market news, federal and state case law, law reviews, accounting and tax information, medical news and abstracts, and state and country profiles. Updated continuously.

Not so useful for the study of German literature per se; however, there is a section devoted to German-language newspapers and magazines, including the full-text contents of Der Spiegel, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Full Text
