Maps & Map Center
Map Center
The Map Center contains most of the library’ s atlases and maps. It recently moved to the CIS Room off the Microforms and Current Periodicals Room at the JPL Library. There are five locations within the Map Center all with a designation in the UTSA online Catalog:
- Map Center: Contains folded maps in envelopes. Many of the maps are on various geologic topics. Located here are:
- The Geologic Atlas of Texas
- CIA maps are good for copying
- Index for the 7½ minute maps
- Map Cases: These contain the Library’s non-folded flat maps. Located here are:
- 7½ minute topographic maps for Texas and the contiguous states
- Mexican geologic-topographic maps with index
- Flood plain insurance maps with index (G4031)
- The highly regarded National Geographic maps
- Atlas Stands: This is where heavily used atlases are located. Some of the titles found here are:
- Oxford Atlas of the World
- Rand McNally Commercial Atlas & Marketing Guide
- County Maps of Texas
- Atlas of World History
- West Point Atlases of American Wars
- Map Center Stacks: Most of the rest of the library’s atlases are located here. Also housed here are Maps on File and State Maps on File, both especially created for copying.
- Map Center Folios: The exceptionally large atlases are found here.
