Library Disability Services Information

Reference and Research Assistance

General reference assistance is available in person at the JPL Reference Desk and the Downtown Reference Desk or by telephone at 210 458-4573 at the John Peace Library (1604 Campus) and 210 458-2446 at the Downtown Library.

Online reference assistance is available with the Ask-A-Librarian Service.

Extended reference assistance

UTSA students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a reference librarian for in-depth assistance. If you would like library staff to suggest an appropriate librarian, please call the Reference Desk at 210 458-4573.

Retrieving Library Materials

• The Circulation Desks at the 1604 and Downtown Campuses provide assistance with retrieving library materials. Staff will retrieve 2-4 items upon request, as staffing permits.
  
  
• If more items are needed, please provide a list of the items, including call numbers, to the Circulation Desk. Patrons will be notified when the material is ready for pick-up, usually within 24 hours.
  
  
• Alternatively, the Office of Disability Services can schedule times to assist with retrieving materials. Contact the Office of Disability Services at 458-4157 (1604 campus) or 458-2945 (Downtown campus) to make arrangements.

Photocopying

Photocopiers are available for use at both the 1604 and Downtown Campuses. Photocopies are 10¢ per page; machines take copy cards, or UTSA ID cards.

The Office of Disability Services can schedule staff to assist with photocopying, if necessary.

Library Instruction

Faculty and students should contact the Instruction Coordinator prior to the library instruction session for accommodations.

Accommodations may include:

• sign language interpreters
• scheduling classrooms in physically accessible rooms
• one-on-one instruction using assistive technology
