Faculty and Professional Staff Borrowing Policy

UTSA faculty, instructors, and professional staff members may borrow up to 100 items at a time.


To borrow items you must present your UTSA Card or other photo ID at the service desk. The borrowing period for books is until the end of the semester. Books recalled for Course Reserves must be returned by the new due date emailed to the borrower.  For borrowing periods of items other than books please view our Borrowing Policies by type of material.

Returning or Renewing

Items may be returned to the John Peace Library on Main Campus, the Downtown Library, or the AET Library, regardless of where they were checked out.

If you are still using the books, you may renew them up to three times. Books can be renewed online through your account, by calling the John Peace Library (210-458-4574) or the Downtown Campus Library (210-458-2440), or in person at the Front Desk of either library.

Mail renewal is available at the end of each semester for UTSA faculty and professional staff by returning the renewal notice indicating the desire to renew any of the materials listed. If the material has reached its renewal limit, you will be notified and the material must be returned to the library before it can be checked out again.

Overdue Fines

Faculty, professional staff, and instructors are not charged fines for overdue items.

Lost or Damaged Materials

Users are responsible for charges for items lost or damaged during their borrowing period. In addition to replacement costs, users will be responsible for a processing fee of $10. For damaged items, charges will be determined by the cost of repairs or replacement.
