Faculty and Professional Staff Borrowing Policy
UTSA faculty, professional staff, and instructors may borrow up to 100 items at a time.
Loan Period
The loan period is until the end of the semester. If books and media are subject to recall it will be to a date three weeks after the loan date. Books or multimedia recalled for Course Reserves must be returned immediately. Items may be returned to the John Peace Library on Main Campus, the Downtown Campus Library, or the AET Library, regardless of where they were checked out. Renewing Books
You may renew your books up to two times, if the items have not been requested by another borrower. Books can be renewed online by logging into your library account, by calling the John Peace Library (210-458-4574) or the Downtown Campus Library (210-458-2440), or in person at the Front Desk of either library.
Mail renewal is available at the end of each semester for UTSA faculty and professional staff by returning the renewal notice indicating the desire to renew any of the materials listed. If the material has reached its renewal limit, you will be notified and the material must be returned to the library before it can be checked out again.
Overdue Fines
Faculty, professional staff, and instructors are not charged fines for overdue items.
Lost or Damaged Materials
- Book replacement options, including reserve books: $70 replacement cost and $10 processing fee. A copy of the material may be brought to the Front Desk for replacement consideration. If accepted, there will be a $10 processing fee.
- Multimedia, including Multimedia Reserve items: $30 replacement cost and $10 processing fee.
- Interlibrary Loans: Please contact the ILL office at (210) 458-4891 or ill@lib.utsa.edu for replacement options.
- Laptops: $1400 replacement, $50 carrying case, $50 adapter. Damage charges will be determined by library and the cost of repairs.
- Portable DVD players: $180 replacement cost, $16 carrying case, $60 battery pack, $26 AC adapter. Damage charges will be determined by the library and the cost of repairs.
