Faculty & Professional Staff Borrowing Policy

UTSA faculty, emeriti faculty, and staff may borrow an unlimited number of items at a time.

Borrowing

To borrow items you must present your UTSA Card or other photo ID at the service desk. Most books may be borrowed for four months at a time. Books needed for course reserves will be due back by the date provided in the emailed recall notice.  For borrowing periods of items other than books please view our Borrowing Policies by type of material.

Returning or Renewing

Items may be returned to the John Peace Library, the Downtown Library, or the AET Library, regardless of where they were checked out.

You may renew online through your account, by calling the John Peace Library (210-458-4574) or the Downtown Library (210-458-2440), or in person at the Front Desk of either library. Faculty and staff receive unlimited renewals for most library materials such as general stacks and multimedia collections. Reserves, popular reading, tech gear, and curriculum material collections do not allow renewals due to their high demand nature. For these items please call or visit the library to find out your options for renewing or extending your current loan.

Overdue Fines

UTSA faculty, emeriti faculty, and staff are not charged fines for overdue items.

Lost or Damaged Materials

You will be held responsible for items that are lost or damaged while in your care. In addition to replacement costs, you will be responsible for a processing fee of $10. For damaged items, charges will be determined by the cost of repairs or replacement.
