AET Library Wins American Institute of Architects Award

Nov 14, 2011

Dean of Libraries Krisellen Maloney was recently notified that UTSA's Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) Library was selected as a Merit Design Award Winner in the Non-Commercial category by the American Institute of Architects, El Paso chapter.

Alvidrez Architecture—the firm that designed the AET Library interior—submitted the AET Library project for the design award consideration in September.

“We strongly believed in the necessity of providing UTSA engineering students with the tools they need to succeed,” said Alvidrez’s Yvette Krohn in her notification email to Dean Maloney.

“We feel we were successful in not only providing a successful tool for this student community, but also provided the University with a space that helps support your academic mission. Thank you for allowing us to partner with UTSA on this valuable project.”

The AET Library made headlines last fall when it was recognized by the New York Times and USA Today as the nation’s first bookless library on a university campus.
