A Year of Delicious Food - Special Collections Launches Culinary Tour of Mexico

Aug 29, 2011

The UTSA Libraries' Special Collections, in collaboration with UTSA's Recreation Center and student organization La Despedida, are proud to present a year-long Demo Kitchen series highlighting the university's Platillos populares001world-class Mexican Cookbook Collection.

The Culinary Tour of Mexico consists of seven Demo Kitchen sessions, each focusing on a different state of Mexico. These interactive cooking demonstrations will take place in the Rec Center's Demo Kitchen facility, and will bring recipes from the library's collection—one of the largest collections of Mexican cookbooks in the country—to life.

The kickoff event of the series is Monday, August 29 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Rec Center Demo Kitchen, and will feature appetizers from around Mexico. Appetizers to be served include Salsa Verde, Tostadas Sorenses, Guacamole, Salsa de Jitomate con Chile Chipotle, Chalupitas Poblanas, and Pastel de Sola de Vega.

The Culinary Tour of Mexico Demo Kitchens are open to all UTSA staff, faculty and students. Rec Center membership is not required.
