eReaders Now Available for Checkout from the AET Library
Oct 02, 2011
by Anne Peters, Communications Coordinator, UTSA Libraries
The UTSA Libraries have launched a new program to lend eReaders to UTSA students, faculty and staff
Available through the satellite Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) Library, the circulating eReaders are pre-loaded with a variety of popular and scholarly science and engineering content.
Members of the UTSA community may checkout an eReader for 14 days. In addition to viewing pre-loaded content, some eReaders allow borrowers to request additional titles from the device's online store. The AET Library currently has two each of Amazon Kindles, Sony Readers and Barnes & Noble Nooks for lending.

"With eReaders becoming more and more popular, it's a natural step for us to explore how we might use the devices to deliver information to our students," says Dean of Libraries Krisellen Maloney. "With the AET Library being completely bookless, and with so many science and engineering resources available online, this was the perfect place to try them out."
The eReader pilot project is an opportunity for library administration to evaluate the different type of devices and determine what type of content students, faculty and staff find most useful. Based on user feedback, the UTSA Libraries will consider a future expansion of the program to other library locations.
More information on eReader circulation policies and the titles loaded on each device is available on the AET Library website.
