Adaptive Technology
UTSA Libraries offer adaptive technology for patrons with disabilities, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Adaptive Technology Computer Lab – John Peace Library
The Adaptive Technology Computer Lab is located just off of the Information Commons (computer workstation area) on the second floor of JPL, room 2.01.16B1. There are five ADA workstations in the lab, loaded with the following software:
- ZoomText
- Freedom Scientific JAWS
- Dragon Naturally Speaking
- Duxbury Braille Translation
- Inspiration 8
- Kurzweil 1000
- Kurzweil 3000
Additional equipment in the lab includes:
- CCTV
- 2 scanners
- Braille Embosser 4
The Adaptive Technology Lab is open during normal library hours. The computers are reserved for students registered with Disability Services. Students wishing to use the lab should contact Jeanette Preston at (210) 458-4558 or jeanette.preston@utsa.edu for login information.
ADA Computer Workstation – Downtown Library
At the Downtown Campus Library, the ADA workstation is located between the computer cluster and back tables.
The ADA workstation is loaded with the following software:
- ZoomText
- Freedom Scientific JAWS
- Inspiration 8
- Kurzweil 1000
- Kurzweil 3000
In addition, the ADA workstation has a scanner attached, as well as a document/book magnifier nearby.
