Teaching Assistant Training
The TA training program offered by the UTSA Libraries Faculty Services consists of three phases.
Phase 1 - TA ORIENTATION (Face-to-Face)
This component is a face-to-face orientation where participants will learn what it means to be a TA and hear from other experienced TAs. Additionally, you will learn about effective teaching practices and presentation methods.

Phase 2 - TRAINING MODULES (ONLINE)
This training component includes several online modules that focus on different content and skill areas. To complete this phase, TAs will review the content and take a final quiz for each module. The final exam integrates questions from all modules.
This year, TAs will be able to self enroll in the Phase II online TA Modules through Blackboard. Detailed instructions to access the online modules will be sent directly to TAs by email.
Phase 3 - FOLLOW-UP SESSION (Face-to-Face)
This training component involves a follow-up session to give TAs the opportunity to prepare and give a mock teaching demonstration. Following the teaching demonstrations, TAs will receive feedback and recommendations from their peers.
