If you wish to appeal a library fine, you should first discuss the charge with the Front Desk supervisor at the library where the item was checked-out.
If no resolution is found, you may then submit an appeal by completing our appeal form.
An appeal based solely on inability to pay or disagreement with the fine structure will not be considered. Once the decision has been made, it is final.
Written appeals should be as detailed as possible and include:
- Date, approximate time and location to which you returned the materials, or
- Date, approximate time, location at which you paid the fine in question, and note whether you paid by card, check or voucher.
- Your reason for appeal
Your appeal will be reviewed by the Fines Appeal Panel. You will receive an email notifying you of the outcome of your appeal within five business days in most cases.
