Allo uses self-authored, tailored lectures and supplemental materials in his courses, creating a unique and zero-cost learning experience for his students.

More from Allo:

"Through successful demonstration of its implementation in a lower level core course for our program. I think the cost of textbooks has escalated to a point where it is now forcing students who have limited resources to attempt a course with no text, copy/scan a textbook from another student or from the library as they progress through the semester, etc. If this is successful, there are other courses in our program that I believe could also be taught using free online textbooks.”

“I might add that I freely share with my students all the educational materials I have generated to successfully teach my courses versus bundling them into a course manual or textbook and then requiring my students to purchase MY manual/textbook at $150 to $400 a copy. Something just seems a little unethical with that approach though it is done by many faculty across the country."
