Ponomariov is working to curate instructional materials and assessments from open access and library-subscription content, including journal and magazine articles, podcasts and videos.
More from Ponomariov:
“I do routinely use freely available materials complementing the textbook, mainly case studies or examples of high- and poor-quality research appearing in the public sphere. Occasionally, there are also some surprisingly good blog entries (by both academics and non-academics) appropriate for different topics in the sequence.
Regardless of what specific class I teach, I have noticed that typically classic works and scholarship (that are usually available for free), and working with original texts rather than textbooks is superior to merely keeping up with the standard, exceedingly costly textbooks and updates. In addition, there is significant up-to-date case study and application material available electronically. Accordingly, I have moved away from using textbooks altogether, both in my undergraduate and graduate classes.”
