Dilley is exploring a mixture of open and affordable learning materials in an effort to provide immediate access to learning materials from the first class day and to support student success and retention at UTSA.
More from Dilley:
"My vision is to expose students to the vast variety of historical conversations which go on in the literature of the field of World History. Though a textbook is useful, it is often written from the point of view of one or two authors. This is helpful, but fails to explore the richness of the historical community. My ideal history course would offer my students a variety of resources and would bring them into the conversation.
I would advocate for OER by sharing my experience with other faculty members, and enlisting them in the use of the sources I adopt after working with the library. Low cost materials is in the best interest of our students and I believe OER adoption may even refresh and enhance the learning of World History."
