More from Masten:
“OER in art history has significantly expanded in the last few years. The pandemic accelerated our access to virtual objects and cultural sites in the sense that it was only in the virtual realm that we could experience them when restricted to our homes. Art museums and cultural centers were closed, and many cultural workers took advantage of that time to expand digital collections and virtual museum-exhibit experiences. Online art history resources, such as Smarthistory and ArtStory, continue to expand their online presence with more articles, videos, course syllabi, and digital textbooks. I expect this trend to continue as universities, including UTSA, continue to offer significantly higher numbers of online classes in art history than in pre-pandemic times.”
