More from DeJulio:

“Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to provide students in my teacher education courses free access to textbooks through the OER grant. The students in my courses have expressed appreciation for not having to spend additional money on books and it has allowed me to use books I might otherwise have avoided due to the high cost to students in my classes.

As I plan the textbooks and resources I will use in my courses, I must do so through the lens of the particular needs of the students who will take my classes. The high cost of textbooks can be particularly burdensome for students who are working and supporting families, as are many of the students at UTSA. Being able to provide free textbooks is a way to provide high quality experiences without adding additional economic burdens. I hope this program continues and grows so that more students at UTSA can benefit from this amazing opportunity.”
