Christiansen is planning to use a mix of free and low-cost learning materials as replacements for her primary textbook for BBL 5123, including e-books and journal articles from the UTSA Libraries as well as open-access resources.

“I have found that even though my course books are relatively inexpensive compared to books in other colleges, students often do not purchase them and ask me to scan chapters for them. Thus, I look for substitute articles and other sources already accessible to students via UTSA Libraries to form a curriculum that does not require textbooks. I search for videos, journal articles, online book chapters, etc.”
“I hope to find a systematic way to find other materials to cover content that does not require students to pay out of pocket.”
