Denton is using Principles of Sociological Inquiry from Open Textbook Library, which is Creative Commons licensed, providing her with flexibility when re-using and remixing the content and providing her students immediate access to a textbook with zero financial or technological barriers.

“In all of my courses, I try to use online resources or place readings on electronic reserve through the library in order to minimize textbook costs for students.
"Since the start of my teaching career I have sought to use alternatives to expensive textbooks in my classes. If I am able to find free course material that meets the needs of the class, I would recommend that our entire department adopt the free material. I am on the department curriculum committee and can use that platform as a way to encourage the conversation about free materials across other courses as well."
