A native of Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Chef Angel Garcia brings 35 years of experience in the food industry. Following his father’s example, Garcia understands the importance of selecting fresh ingredients and building relationships based on trust and respect with food suppliers to provide high-quality dishes that, after 100 years, are now iconic traditions of Tampico and Tamaulipas.

After 23 years of working in the family restaurant, he continued his journey at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York, where he learned and shared the kitchen with some of the best chefs in the world.  

He has led El Porvenir Restaurant to be considered one of the best restaurants in Mexico since 2016, making the list of the top 120 best restaurants in Mexico and the best 50 Restaurants in Mexico by Gentleman Magazine.

He has represented Mexico and its gastronomy in many high-level events, dinners, and festivals, including the Abu Dhabi World Food Festival in the United Arab Emirates in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as signature chef for the Fiestas Mexicanas Festival at Mandarin Oriental Hotel; and, in La Haya, Netherlands for the Week of Mexico Celebrations alongside Chef Arturo Fernandez.

As a chef ambassador of Tamaulipas, he has participated in Encuentreo de Sabores Tampico-Madrid in Madrid, Spain, and Madrid-Tampico in CIA New York and San Antonio.

Garcia served as a judge on the first season of Master Chef Mexico. He is a member of La Académie Culinaire de France, The Conservatory for Mexican Cultural Gastronomy, and Disciples D’escoffier International.
