Profile

Candy oversees the daily operations of the cataloging unit, providing leadership and vision for resource description. She is responsible for coordinating original, copy, and batch cataloging of library materials in all formats, as well as the associated authority work, quality control, maintenance, and remediation needed for timely and robust access to library collections. She also serves a critical role in evaluating and implementing emerging technologies and best practices.

Candy has a B.A. in History and Music from Texas State University and an M.S. in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. Before starting with UTSA Libraries, Candy was Manager of Metadata Services at MARCIVE, Inc. in San Antonio, where she expanded the company’s NACO involvement and coordinated large cataloging and authorities projects for libraries. She has been on several ALA and PCC committees, most recently as chair of the ALA Core Subject Analysis Committee.
