Policy on Confidentiality of Library Records
To safeguard the privacy of individuals in their use of the UTSA Libraries, we maintain the confidentiality of library records. In accordance with the Texas Public Information Act*, library staff members will not release the names of borrowers who are using/have used library materials or services. UTSA Libraries will not share the personal information of users except as required by a court order or subpoena.
Circulation Records
The UTSA Libraries maintain current records of books and other materials checked out to users. Once items are returned, the information is expunged from the user's record unless a fine or fee has been incurred.
Web Privacy Policy
The UTSA Libraries are strongly committed to protecting the privacy of our online users. We believe that maintaining privacy is very important and that informing our users about the types of information we collect and how we use it is important.
Like many websites, the UTSA Libraries’ website automatically logs certain “non-personally identifiable” information about visits to our site. This information is used for system administration and for producing usage statistics. For a more detailed statement about types of information gathered and how that information is used, please review the UTSA Internet Privacy and Security Statement.
For more general information about privacy and confidentiality in regards to UTSA lab computers, please see the Office of Information Technology’s Acceptable Use Policy.
