We are pleased to offer the following options for visitors & alumni who wish to make use of UTSA Libraries resources and services.
Borrowing Privileges
Don't have a User ID or Password? Call 210-458-4574 (Main Campus) or 210-458-2440 (Downtown Campus) to find out about our guest borrowing policies.
For more detailed information about these borrowing options, please see the Visitor & Alumni Borrowing Policy.
Non-UTSA affiliated visitors may obtain borrowing privileges at the UTSA Libraries by joining the Community Borrowing Program.
UTSA Alumni can receive borrowing privileges by becoming a member of the Alumni Association and bringing the membership card to JPL or the Downtown Library to set up an account.
In addition, the TexShare program allows non-UTSA affiliated visitors to borrow material in person through participating public and academic libraries. Visit the TexShare website for more information.

Access to Databases
Due to the nature of our contractual agreements with database providers, only current UTSA students, faculty (including emeriti faculty) and staff can access online resources off campus. Retired faculty without emeritus status do not have off-campus access to electronic resources. However, most databases are available to visitors on site in our libraries.
Guest Computers
A few desktop computers in the John Peace Library and Downtown Library are reserved for guests, including alumni and community members. These computers are primarily for research purposes. Library guests can use these computers to access some of the libraries’ electronic resources.
To acquire a temporary log-on ID, you will need to show picture identification and sign in at the Front Desks of the John Peace and Downtown Libraries. (The AET Library does not offer computer access to guests.)
- Use of these workstations is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Guest access is limited to one hour per day per person.
- If guests anticipate needing more than one hour using the guest computers to access UTSA research materials or to fill out UTSA forms, such as the FAFSA, they are encouraged to make arrangements in advance of their visit by calling the JPL Front Desk at (210) 458-4574, or the Downtown Library Front Desk at (210) 458-2440.
- UTSA Libraries reserve the right to reclaim guest computers for accessing research materials.
