More Than a Good Story: Finding History in LatinX YA Literature

Dr. Priscilla Martinez

Join Dr. Priscilla Martinez for an informal Pizza & Research conversation exploring what popular LatinX young adult literature can teach us about history, identity, migration, culture, and belonging. Drawing from student work in Mexican American and Latina/é/o/x history courses, Dr. Martinez will highlight how novels became starting points for historical research—and how students transformed their interpretations into podcasts that connect popular stories to broader historical contexts.

Come enjoy pizza (while supplies last) and a conversation about books, history, podcasts, and the unexpected ways stories can help us understand the past and the communities around us.

Free, but pre-registration is appreciated.
