Entry and Elevators

There are three ADA-compliant entrances to JPL:

  • 2nd floor main entrance facing the Sombrilla, the campus courtyard, on the west side
  • 1st floor entrance facing the Sombrilla (closed overnight between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am)
  • 1st floor entrance facing the Main Building on the east side (closed overnight between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am)

Public elevators provide access between all four floors of the building.

ADA parking spaces are located in several areas in close vicinity to JPL. UTSA Parking Permit is required in addition to ADA permit to park in these spaces.

Free parking with ADA permit or Disabled Veteran Permit is available in Surface Pay by Space locations marked with P in a circle icon on the ADA and Disabled Veteran parking map.

Visitors with an ADA placard/license plate, but no UTSA Parking Permit may also use paid ADA parking in Bauerle (BRG) and Ximenes Avenue (XAG) garages at the hourly parking rate.

Between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am only the 2nd floor JPL main entrance is open. Use the Business Building route to access JPL.

Primary Route: Directions from the Business Building (BB) into JPL

There are two locations for ADA parking spaces near the Business Building: 8 spaces on the northwest side next to the sidewalk and 4 spaces near the entrance on the east side of the Business Building.  The most convenient route to JPL is from the northwest parking.

Directions from the northwest parking:

  • Take the sidewalk towards the Sombrilla.
  • Take the ADA access ramp leading to the 2nd floor of JPL.
  • Use the main entrance to enter JPL.

Directions from the east parking:

  • Enter the east entrance to the Business Building.
  • Take elevator to the second floor.
  • Exit the elevator to the right.
  • Exit the Business Building via the sliding doors and turn to the left.
  • Take the ADA access ramp leading to the 2nd floor of JPL.

Primary Route: Directions from the Main Building into JPL

  • 12 ADA parking spaces are located on the south-east side of the Main Building.
  • Take the ADA path towards JPL.
  • On the south side of JPL, you may turn either left or right to access ADA accessible ramps on the east or west side of JPL.
  • Use the 1st floor entrance facing the Sombrilla, OR
  • Use the 1st floor entrance facing the Main Building.
  • Use elevators to access 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floors of JPL.

After Hours Route: Directions from Business Building into JPL

  • Park in the ADA parking spaces in the northwest of the Business Building.
  • Take the sidewalk towards the Sombrilla.
  • Take the ADA access ramp leading to the 2nd floor of JPL.
  • Use the main entrance to enter JPL.

Downtown Campus Library

The library is accessible via public elevators located directly across the hallway from the library’s entrance.
