-

UTSA Downtown Conference Center
Chicano Movement leaders and activists will convene in San Antonio on Sept. 15-17, 2022, to commemorate and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the national Raza Unida Party (RUP). The conference will analyze the current socioeconomic conditions of the Mexican-origin population and salient issues affecting the population.
Saturday’s emphasis is on the future with the theme “Visioning Toward 2060.” Attendees and panelists will review research on the demographic profile of the Mexican-origin population by 2060, thoughts on political empowerment strategies, and a look at the future of Labor for RUP toward 2060.
Co-sponsored by UTSA Libraries, the Libraries Special Collections division will exhibit selections from its archive of the Chicano Movement and Raza Unida Party.
