Applications are now being accepted for two faculty grant programs offered by the UTSA Libraries. Both grants are open to tenure and non-tenure track faculty, and offer awards to supplement travel allowances for conferences and research.
Adopt-a-Textbook Grants
The Adopt-a-Textbook Grant was created to support the adoption and adaption of open educational resources at UTSA, offering an incentive for faculty to integrate a free textbook (or other free instructional materials) into a course.
The grant is available to both individuals and departments. Individual awards are $1,000 and departmental awards range from $1,500—$7,000 (calculated based on number of students impacted) for faculty to adopt a free textbook in a course (minimum 3 instructor collaboration or all instructors for a course).
For more information, see the full grant description or contact DeeAnn Ivie, librarian.
Faculty Teaching in the Archives (FTIA) Grants
FTIA grants are aimed at instructors who would like to design or invigorate a course with unique content from UTSA’s Special Collections. Four grant recipients will receive $1,000 each.
The grants offer teaching faculty an opportunity to implement innovative archives-centered pedagogical approaches in their courses in order to introduce students to a variety of primary sources, engage students in-depth archival research, build students’ critical thinking skills, and stress participation in collaborative projects and presentations.
