From March 20 to April 14, the entire UTSA community is invited to share thoughts about the libraries in a five-minute survey. The questionnaire is sent via email to students, faculty and staff, and reminder emails will be sent in the coming weeks.
The biannual survey was developed by The Association of Research Libraries and is utilized by over a thousand libraries across the nation. At the end of the survey, students are asked to provide their email for a chance to win a Nintendo Switch. All responses are completely anonymous.
“This survey is instrumental in gathering the UTSA community’s perspective on how we are doing,” said Dean Hendrix, dean of libraries. “The results are carefully analyzed to ensure that the libraries continue to grow and fulfill the needs of those we serve.”
The survey responses are used to help shape future plans for library services and initiatives. In the past, the survey resulted in more quiet study areas, more power outlets, an increase in study seats, and website changes to make it easier to find library materials.
“We continually seek to make library services better,” said Jan Kemp, assistant dean for public services. “It’s because of the feedback we’ve received over the years, that we can continue to evolve and make the library a second home for our students.”
