Augmented Reality Books Come to UTSA Libraries

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) College of Education and Human Development's (COEHD) Office of Teacher Education Services and UTSA Libraries have teamed up to bring children's books to life through Augmented Reality.

"I think that these books give children another way to see books and information," said Rachel Cannady, COEHD resource librarian. "The books provide another avenue to get involved."


UTSA Libraries Receives Grant to Digitize The Sons of the Republic of Texas Collection

The Sons of the Republic of Texas (SRT) recently received a grant to continue digitization of their archive of 16th - 20th century Mexican manuscripts, housed at UTSA Libraries.

One-Of-A-Kind Artists' Books Donated to UTSA Libraries Special Collections

Artists’ books can be made by all types of artists who wish to communicate an idea in an intimate format of a book.  They reside in museums and libraries, as well as in homes of private collectors. As described by Rare Books Librarian Agnieszka Czeblakow, “artists books challenge our assumptions of what it means to read, of what ’a book’ is, or should be. Artists books are puzzles demanding our curiosity,” said Czeblakow.


Mexican Cookbook Collection Highlighted in New Video

UTSA’s Mexican Cookbook Collection is featured in a new video with Rico Torres, chef and co-owner at Restaurant Mixtli.
The collection is one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. with more than 1,800 items produced between 1789 and the present. Among the many gems in the collection are handwritten recipe books providing an intimate view of domestic life and Mexican culinary culture. Other areas of focus include regional cooking, healthy and vegetarian recipes and corporate advertising cookbooks.

Summer Changes at the John Peace and AET Libraries

Renovations will be taking place in both the John Peace Library and AET Library this summer, which will provide returning students with more modernized study spaces in the fall.

Veterans Study Room Opens at John Peace Library
